Fitbit announced that a new version of the Ionic smartwatch dubbed adidas is going to available in the coming weeks, bringing a small upgrade to the official lineup.

Fitbit seems to be working on its own game plan, and it’s one of the few companies that doesn’t seem to react to what the market is doing. That’s why we’re now looking forward to the adidas version of the Fitbit Ionic, an iteration that no one saw it coming, but makes sense as a competitor for the Apple Watch Nike+.

So, what’s up with the Fitbit Ionic: adidas? To be fair, it’s not a major upgrade, and for the most part, it’s very similar with the previous version, at least in terms of hardware and design. If not for the small logo on the display, you couldn’t tell the difference. Well, that and the two new bracelets with Ink Blue and Ice Gray.

adidas brings us more work

Since the watch remains the same, the software is the ones that must be enhanced. A team of experts from adidas build a training program, so now the Ionic has a functions called… Train.

The new app includes a series of six videos that can be watched directly on the display of the watch. Users will be able to go through a Dynamic Warm Up session (5 minutes),  then go through Power Pace to train your body to be more elastic, forceful, and efficient (10 minutes), and use Metabolic to increase the efficiency of your metabolism.

Other activities include Run Activation to improve your hip, core and shoulder stability, Strong Strides to build strength throughout your run, of something to end the day called Post Run Stretch, which is pretty explanatory.

The price difference is not all that big from the regular version of the Ionic, and it should sell for $329.95. The launch date has been set for March 19, but you can preorder it right now.
