A fix is already in the works, it appears

If you own a Fitbit Charge 5 or a Fitbit Luxe and can no longer sync your device with a Samsung phone running Android 13, you are not alone.

As it turns out, the broken sync after the update to Android 13 is quite a common problem, with more and more users reporting the same issues on Fitbit’s forums.

At this point, however, it looks like not all Fitbit devices are impacted, as the Charge 5 and the Luxe are most often affected. On the other hand, the majority of Samsung devices updated to Android 13 seem to be impacted, including the Galaxy S22 and the latest-generation foldables.

“Samsung Flip 3 (primary device) running Android 13: no sync since update of OS, Adding the Charge 5 again as device fails; Bluetooth connection is valid in app but connecting times out, most probably the pairing request asking for a 6 digit number to confirm fails,” one user explains on the Fitbit forums.

“Second Device: Samsung S22 (Wife, never used with Fitbit) running Android 13: Adding device fails as well, same situation like with the other Phone. Charge gets found via Bluetooth but then "connecting" fails and times out.”

The good news is that Fitbit has already acknowledged the glitch, revealing that an official fix is projected to go live in early 2023. It’s not yet clear, however, how users are supposed to sync their trackers until this highly anticipated fix becomes available.

“Thanks for the detailed information, and the steps tried prior to posting. Let me share we identified the root cause of the bug and we are working on a fix, which we anticipate releasing via an app update in early 2023,” a Fitbit Moderator said in the linked thread.
