Production on highly anticipated Showtime series begins

“Twin Peaks” ran for just 2 seasons on ABC in 1990 and 1991, but it’s got a cult following. Because it was pulled off the air before getting the conclusion that its creators, David Lynch and Mark Frost, would have wanted, fans never lost hope it would be picked up for a spinoff of sorts.

Last year, Showtime confirmed that the series was coming back for a third season, and the initial air-date was set for 2016. It was later pushed back, following a disagreement between the network and Lynch (who walked out and came back), and the addition of more episodes than originally planned.

“Twin Peaks” is now in production, and TMZ has obtained the first on-set, leaked footage from it. It shows Kyle MacLachlan (Special FBI Agent Dale Cooper) shooting exterior scenes with a woman who looks very much like Laura Palmer (as played by Sheryl Lee).

The fact that they’re walking up to the Palmer house seems to confirm that, indeed, Laura will be brought back to life. Well, either that or she’s part of one of those famous Lynch dream-sequences.

Sheryl Lee was among the first original castmember confirmed for the revival show, which naturally meant that her Laura Palmer would return, in one form or another. What the fans don’t know yet, and probably won’t know until the premiere, is how said return will happen considering that the series takes place exactly 25 years after the events in season 2.
