Almost 10 years after they met and fell in love on the set of the action movie “Mr. and Mrs. Smith,” Angelina Jolie and husband Brad Pitt will be together again on the big screen, this time under completely different circumstances, in the romantic drama “By the Sea.”

The film, also written and directed by Jolie (who is credited as “Angelina Jolie Pitt” for the first time ever), tells the story of a writer, Roland (Pitt), and his wife (Jolie), trapped in their marriage and hatred for each other.

Jolie has said that the film will try to answer “the questions of what happened to Roland and Vanessa and why they are in the place they are now,” and based on the first trailer, this will be done by means of staring into the distance, absent-mindedly smoking, beautiful crying and sad bath-taking.

All jokes aside, “By the Sea” is getting some Oscar buzz already, but we won’t know whether it’s justified or not until it starts making the festival rounds in November. It will also get a limited theatrical release in the fall, to qualify it for the awards season.

As a side note, celebrity pundits are making a great deal out of the fact that the first trailer dropped on the same day that the news broke that Jennifer Aniston, Brad Pitt’s first wife, had tied the knot in secret with fiancé Justin Theroux. With Brangelina, that can’t be a coincidence, they say.
