The upcoming release of CD Projekt Red's Cyberpunk 2077 will probably quench everyone's thirst for the sci-fi subgenre, but if you're one of those who can't get enough cyberpunk in their lives, we have one more title that might fit your gaming taste.

Ghostrunner is a hardcore cyberpunk adventure from the creators of the recently released God's Trigger, One More Level. The game is scheduled for release on PC, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One sometime next year, but those who attended Gamescom this week could already try out the game.

In Ghostrunner, you play as a cyber-warrior, a living weapon who's capable of fighting both in the physical world and in cyberspace. The gameplay video released this week only contains footage from the physical world, so we have yet to see how cyberspace fights turn out.

The premise of the game feels quite standard: a cataclysm has wiped out most of humanity and destroyed the environment. Since resources are scarce, the survivors live in a tower, which is slowly turned into chaos due to violence and poverty. In the Ghostrunner world, the more valuable implants you have, the more worthy you are, so it's no wonder that a rebellion starts.

The game combines platforming and swordplay elements, and while your character will die from one hit, you will not start from the beginning of the level. Even so, you'll have to learn the levels very well and adapt to every situation presented if you are to survive until the end of the adventure.

You only fight with a sword, but you can use special abilities to avoid bullets. Also, the dynamic movement system turns the combat into a strange dance of death.

From what we're seeing in the gameplay trailer, combat seems solid enough, and the same goes for visuals and sound. We can't wait to get our hands on this one when it comes out next year.
