While some would expect HDM Global, the Finnish company that will launch Nokia-branded smartphones going forward, to make some announcements in early January at Consumers Electronics Show (CES) 2017, it's been confirmed that it won't happen.

According to HMD, new information about its lineup of Android smartphones will be unveiled one month later, in February, at Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2017.

Also, the first Nokia-branded smartphones to be launched by HMD will be unveiled at the same trade fair in late February.

The latest leaks point to one or two smartphones that will be announced at MWC, which are known as Nokia D1 and Nokia E1. Neither of them is a high-end device, but both come with the Android 7.0 Nougat operating system on board.

Well, it appears that one of these devices has just appeared at 3C (China Compulsory Certification), the regulatory commission that certifies new products so that they can be released in China.

The Nokia device is listed as TA-1000, which is probably the model number designated to the Chinese version of the smartphone.

Unfortunately, there's no telling whether this device is the more advanced Nokia D1 smartphone or the cheap Nokia E1. The only information revealed by the listing at 3C is the fact that the phone comes with standard 5V/2A charging support, so no fast charging is available for the device.

It's very possible that this is the Nokia E1 that's rumored to pack a low-end Qualcomm Snapdragon processor, 1GB of RAM and 8GB of internal storage.

Also, the phone is expected to sport a 5.5-inch display with HD (720p) resolution. As mentioned earlier, the E1 is likely to run Android 7.0 Nougat right out of the box.

We'll probably learn more about HMD's upcoming Nokia-branded smartphones to be revealed at MWC 2017, so stay tuned for more on this one.
