The device is expected to launch in the spring

New Surface devices are expected this year, and while Microsoft has so far remained tight-lipped on the lineup projected to launch in 2023, it looks like a new Surface Laptop Studio is also coming.

WindowsCentral is reporting that the Laptop Studio 2 showed up on Geekbench to provide us with an early look at the hardware specs of the device.

As it turns out, the new model will come with the Intel Core i7-13800H processor and Nvidia RTX 4060 graphics card, and it’s believed that up to 64GB of RAM would also be available.

In other words, the Surface Laptop Studio 2 could become the first Surface device to be offered with this amount of RAM, though there’s a good chance other models would follow as well.

The cited source indicates that Microsoft’s new Laptop Studio 2 wouldn’t come with too many changes in terms of design and looks. This means the Redmond-based software giant would focus mostly on under-the-hood upgrades, so aesthetically, the new model will be pretty much identical to the version it replaces.

This isn’t necessarily a surprise, as Microsoft has been using the same approach for Surface devices for several generations already. The Surface Pro, for example, hasn’t received a visual upgrade in many years, instead sticking with an approach that many consider outdated.

For now, there’s no ETA as to when the new Surface Laptop Studio 2 could see the daylight, but Microsoft typically announces new products in the spring. Press releases to introduce the new devices could go live in April or May, with sales to begin later the same month.

Of course, we should still take everything with a healthy pinch of salt for now given no official information on the new model exists.
