14 DAY TRIAL // Microsoft’s new Surface Go went on sale earlier this month, and now that the device is up for grabs for everyone, the software giant has started work on refining the experience for early adopters.
Surface Go is Microsoft’s latest Surface model that’s specifically aimed at the education market. It is available at a lower price as compared to its more premium siblings, and can be purchased by anyone from the Microsoft Store for just $399.
As far as the new firmware update is concerned, it doesn’t bring too many changes, but it’s important to install it especially since it’s the day one patch.
It includes refinements for the Surface UEFI and system stability improvements, and even though these changes may not be easily noticeable at first glance, they are supposed to offer better performance and stability across the operating system.
The update pushes Surface Go firmware version to 1.0.3, and it can be downloaded from Windows Update by all new owners of the device. You can head over to Settings > Update & Security > Windows Update > Check for updates to get the new version and install it right away.

Microsoft Surface Go is a device that helps the software giant expand into a market category that was until now explored for Microsoft, as the Surface lineup has always been all about premium models available at a rather high price.
Surface Go features a 10-inch PixelSense display with 1800x1200 pixels, and is powered by an Intel Pentium Gold Processor 4415Y paired with up to 8GB RAM. The device sports a maximum of 128GB storage for the top-of-the-range configuration and Windows 10 in S mode, with customers allowed to upgrade to full Windows 10 at no extra charge.
Windows 10 in S mode is limited to apps in the Microsoft Store, so Win32 software cannot be installed. Surface Go also comes with a 30-day trial of Microsoft Office 365 Home.
