After “The Twilight Saga,” British actor Robert Pattinson has been keeping busy mostly with indies, because they allow him the freedom to choose which projects most appeal to him. None of them has helped him top the success he had with “Twilight,” but then again, that was never a goal for him.

Of the films that have gotten plenty of buzz ahead of release, “Life” is perhaps the most hyped. It’s a James Dean biopic that pairs him with “The Amazing Spider-Man” actor Dane DeHaan: DeHaan plays the late screen icon, while Pattinson is a photographer from Life Magazine, tasked to photograph him.

A trailer for the film has been released and is available for your viewing pleasure below. There’s something about the editing that gives it a certain Lifetime quality vibe, but the pull quotes assure viewers that this is not the case and that it’s a beautiful, well-acted and well put together instance of cinematography.

Considering the talent in it, it would be a shame if it were otherwise. Opposite Pattinson and DeHaan, you will recognize Joel Edgerton and Ben Kingsley. Anton Corbijn is in the director’s chair; his previous work includes “Control,” “A Most Wanted Man” and various Depeche Mode music videos.

“Life” has been out on the festival circuit since February 2015 and is now nearing a limited theatrical release in September. Here’s the trailer.
