The sequel to King's Bounty shapes up to be a great strategy RPG, at least that's the feeling we get after watching the first developer diary that offers details about exploration, hero management, and tactical combat.

But before we start talking about King's Bounty II, it's worth mentioning that the game will launch in 2020 on PC, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. Also, this is just the first from a series of developer diaries that 1C Entertainment plans to release in the coming months.

Unlike the previous games, King's Bounty II adds core RPG elements, as well as a fully branching narrative adventure to the strategic combat the series is known for. According to 1C Entertainment, players can expect roughly one-third of the experience to be combat with exploration, puzzles, and new characters expanding greatly on the world introduced in past installments of this in the series.

The RPG elements consist of letting players put talent points into four main ideals: Order, Power, Finesse, and Anarchy. Each of these ideals grants different bonuses and changes how characters in the world interact with your hero.

It's also important to note that player’s choices and quests throughout their journey shape who they are and what people think of them. For example, a character’s disposition will directly affect how they are perceived by people in the world, which might lead to different outcomes throughout the entirety of the game.

When it comes to combat, King’s Bounty II stays true to that of past games. Still, players can expect advancements to match modern tactics based encounters with some unique additions that are completely new to the series. The hex-based battles will remain but they will play out across a 3-dimensional battlefield in the games open-world setting, creating seamless transitions from exploration to combat.

Also, army composition has changed in King’s Bounty II, with units limits encouraging players to change their army based on the task at hand. You can watch the full dev diary above and expect more episodes that will provide details on the story, combat systems, and playable characters in King’s Bounty II.
