A new minor revision of the browser is live

Mozilla has released a new update for Firefox browser, and once again, this is just a minor revision for the original version 98.

Firefox 98.0.2 therefore comes with a series of bug fixes, including for a glitch that prevented users from typing in the address bar after opening a new tab and pressing cmd + enter. This means the problem occurred specifically on macOS, so if you’re an Apple user of Firefox, make sure you update as soon as possible.

The same update also resolves a problem causing crashes, as well as an error in session history that blocked some sites from loading.

What’s new in Firefox 98

Other than that, there’s nothing too exciting in this update, and this makes perfect sense given it’s supposed to further refine the experience with Firefox 98.

The update to version 98 was published on March 8, and it included a new and optimized download flow that allows the browser to automatically download files without prompting users every time.

“In this release, you’ll also see that Firefox no longer asks what to do for each file by default. You won’t be prompted to choose a helper application or save to disk before downloading a file unless you have changed your download action setting for that type of file. And now, every time you start a download, Firefox will automatically bring up the Downloads panel by default. This means you’ll experience minimal interruptions and easily find your downloaded files. Plus, to avoid having to close it several times, the panel won't show if there are multiple downloads in progress,” Mozilla explained earlier this month when it rolled out the new Firefox version.

Firefox 98 also included some changes regarding the available search engines, as well as new settings to configure a default app to open a file type.
