Mozilla has released a new version of Firefox, though given it’s a minor version, only one bugfix is part of the part.

Firefox 104.0.1 is therefore the first minor update for the main version 104, and according to the official changelog, it comes to resolve a YouTube glitch.

More specifically, Mozilla claims that some users were experiencing a YouTube video playback when trying to load clips in Firefox, so after installing version 104.0.1, everything should be working just fine.

Otherwise, all the new features that were part of the main Firefox 104 release are also included in this update.

For example, Firefox 104 comes with subtitles in the Picture-in-Picture mode for Disney+ users, while also providing users with power usage information for websites in the Firefox profiler. Only Windows 11 and Apple Silicon devices are supported by this feature.

“Firefox now supports both the scroll-snap-stop property as well as re-snapping. You can use the scroll-snap-stop property's always and normal values to specify whether or not to pass the snap points, even when scrolling fast. Re-snapping tries to keep the last snap position after any content/layout changes,” Mozilla explains in the official Firefox 104 changelog.

Firefox 104 also comes with the following bug fixes:

  • Highlight color is preserved correctly after typing Enter in the mail composer of Yahoo Mail and Outlook.
  • After bypassing the https only error page navigating back would take you to the error page that was previously dismissed. Back now takes you to the previous site that was visited.
  • Paste unformatted shortcut (shift+ctrl/cmd+v) now works in plain text contexts, such as input and text area.

The new Firefox 104.0.1 is now available for download on all supported desktop platforms, including Windows, Linux, and Mac. Needless to say, the new version is also distributed via the built-in browser update engine.
