The new FIFA 18 demo is launching on PC, Xbox One, and PlayStation 4, on September 12th, giving players a chance to take a peek at the next title in the series.

The FIFA franchise is a beast and each year the game sells like crazy. There is no doubt that FIFA 18 will be a hit, particularly as it looks like it’s going to be more of a polished upgrade of the previous title. And the truth is that it really needed some polishing.

The last game in the series, FIFA 17, used to a new engine, Frostbite. Yes, it’s the same engine in Need for Speed, pretty much all of the recent Battlefield games, Mass Effect: Andromeda, and many others. To say that it had a few quirks would be an understatement.

Still, FIFA 17 was a really good game, despite all of the issues, and now FIFA 18 promises to correct the problems and keep improving the gameplay further.

Lots of teams and stadiums for just a demo

Electronic Arts was never the giving kind, and their demos had all sorts of limitations, like a single period. There is no indication of what limitations are going to be imposed, but at least there are quite a few teams to choose from, such as Manchester United, Manchester City, Real Madrid CF, Atlético de Madrid, Juventus F.C., FC Bayern Munich, Paris Saint-Germain F.C. LA Galaxy Toronto FC, Boca Juniors, C.D. Guadalajara, and Vissel Kobe.

As for stadiums, there are four of them, and they include Santiago Bernabéu, La Bombonera, StubHub Center, and the King Fahd Stadium.

New traits for players and a groundbreaking animation system

Since many of the changes introduced in each new edition of FIFA are small and difficult to pinpoint, it will take players some time to discover them all. What we do know is that the animation system has been improved and a new feature called Player Personalities has been added to make the characters distinct.

Even the stadiums and crowds have been upgraded substantially so that they don’t feel the same, and that means regionalized atmospheres, player banners, on-pitch graphics, and much more.

Alex Hunter is back

It looks like people liked the single player portion of FIFA and Alex Hunter is back for another season. Players will be able to control it in the demo, for a short time, and go against some of the biggest stars in the world, including Cristiano Ronaldo, Antoine Griezmann, and a few other playable characters.

Please keep in mind that the FIFA 18 demo will not be available at the same time on all platforms, and the launch time will depend on the time zone as well.
