14 DAY TRIAL // Video game developer EA Sports is announcing that, for the first time in the history of the franchise, two female players are set to be on the cover of the North American version of FIFA 16, alongside international superstar Lionel Messi.
Alex Morgan, the captain of the United States of America team, and Christine Sinclair, who holds the same position for the Canadian team, have been chosen because of their performances and will be involved in promotional activities for the title.
There are no women featured on the other cover versions for FIFA 16.
Alex Morgan is quoted as saying that "It is an incredible honor to be one of the first women featured on the cover of EA Sports FIFA. I know people all over the world play this game, and I’m really excited that FIFA 16 is putting such an important spotlight on women’s soccer. And now to share the cover with today’s greatest player is surreal."
Sinclair adds that she is very happy that she can join Alex Morgan to promote the women's football game and to make sure that everyone knows about the solid performances they have delivered during the recently ended World Cup, which took place in Canada and was won by the United States.
FIFA 16 introduces 12 women's teams, with unique gameplay and animations
Gamers will be able to choose their favorite team in an entirely separate mode that's designed to show the unique elements of the women's game and how competitive they can be.
The new installment of the football sim invites gamers to Play Beautiful and to enjoy a range of changes for all core elements, from defense to offense, with a new no touch dribbling system designed based on the technique of Lionel Messi.
So far, EA Sports has not offered any details on the way it will improve the Ultimate Team game mode.
FIFA 16 will be offered on September 22 in North America and two days later in Europe and can be played on the PC, the Xbox One from Microsoft and the PlayStation 4 from Sony. Legacy versions will also be offered on older devices.
