Fast & Furious Crossroads was unveiled late last year at The Game Awards 2019, but the teaser trailer showcased didn't quite pack a punch. The popular Fast & Furious movie franchise definitely deserves one or more games, but not if they're done just to piggyback on the movie series.

In any case, Bandai Namco, Universal Games and Digital Platforms, and Slightly Mad Studios have just released the first gameplay showing the single-player story mode of the upcoming Fast & Furious Crossroads.

Described as a “team-based, vehicular-heist action game” set in the Fast & Furious universe, Crossroads benefits from the voices of the original actors, including Vin Diesel, Michelle Rodriguez and Tyrese Gibson who are reprising their roles as Dom, Letty, and Roman.

Joining the already explosive cast of actors who are lending their voice to various characters in the game, are Sonequa Martin-Green (Star Trek: Discovery, The Walking Dead), and Asia Kate Dillion (Billions, John Wick: Chapter 3 – Parabellum).

Developers promise that Fast & Furious Crossroads will offer “an exciting story-driven experience, and an unprecedented three-way multiplayer mode.” Although it's mentioned in the press release, the so-called three-way multiplayer mode hasn't been detailed yet, so we're still waiting for information on this specific gameplay feature.

Made by the same studio behind the Project CARS series and Need for Speed: Shift, Slightly Mad Studios, Fast & Furious Crossroads isn't a traditional car racing game. In Fast & Furious Crossroads, players will rely on various gadgets to outcome the obstacles thrown at them during story missions, as well as disabling enemy vehicles.

Apart from revealing the first gameplay trailer for Fast & Furious Crossroads, Bandai Namco also announced the title will be released for PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One on August 7, so there's still time to learn about what's this game all about.
