The folks at Maple Powered Games have just revealed that their farming sim Monster Harvest will no longer launch on August 19 as previously announced. The team needs a few more weeks of polish to make the best game they can possibly make, so Monster Harvest will now be released on PC (via Steam), PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, and Nintendo Switch on August 31.

In a post for fans, the team says that they want to do right by the community and that the last part of the development cycle didn’t work as well as it should, so extra time is needed to finish what’s left:

We know you'll be disappointed, and we do not take these decisions lightly. There was one final development hurdle to jump over that didn't quite work out and pushing back a little was necessary to deliver exactly what we want players to experience. There's a wonderful community that has sprouted up around Monster Harvest and we absolutely want to do right by the community, even when it means making what could be a disappointing decision.”

The good news is that the Monster Harvest demo is still available on Steam and that progress will carry over to the full game. However, if you’re serious about the farming sim, you’ll probably want to consider starting fresh and taking advantage of any improvements and fixes added by that point.

Developed by Maple Powered Game and published by Merge Games, Monster Harvest is a pixelated farming simulator with a twist. Players find themselves starting a new life in Planimal Point, ready to develop their own farm, customize their house, craft their own furniture and make delicious jams.

The game lets you mutate crops to create loyal and fierce companions to take into turn-based battles, as well as discover strange Slimes that can mutate crops in original ways. Let’s just say that depending on the season, the Slime, or the crop you mutate, you will be able to create up to 72 different mutations.
