The development team at Ubisoft working on Far Cry Primal is delivering a new trailer for their upcoming action title, which is focused on the way gamers will be able to experience life as a mammoth as long as they are ready to place a pre-order for the experience.

The minute-long footage features some impressive moments that gamers will be able to play through as they take control of the now-extinct beasts, all features in the Legends of the Mammoth extra content, which features three extra missions called Duel of Beasts, Hunt the Hunters, and The Trapped Elder.

Presumably, the pre-order incentive will also be offered as a standalone piece of downloadable content pack for Far Cry Primal at some point after the game is out.

The new trailer suggests that the Ubisoft developers have been having fun with the coming title and are ready to embrace the possibilities that emerge when players are transported back to the Stone Age and have freedom to interact with the world in any way they see fit.

The title will be launched on the PlayStation 4 from Sony and the Xbox One from Microsoft on February 23 and the PC on March 1.

Far Cry Primal will bring non-linear elements to the story

The series has been one of the first that explored the potential of full open-world experiences, with the second installment cited as an influence by a wide number of modern releases.

For the Primal spin-off, Ubisoft is aiming to add some extra non-linearity to the way the narrative evolves, via a series of specialists that gamers can find and bring back to their village as they explore the world.

Each of them has mastered a set of skills that they can teach, but they will also inhabit their own huts in the player's village and, based on interactions with them, more knowledge about the environments will be shared and more interesting options will open up.

Paula Joyaux, a producer, working on the title, adds, "And by working with them – sometimes they’ll need new components you can only find farther away, or you’ll help them develop new technology – you’ll not only improve your village but also gain new knowledge that will help you improve yourself."

Far Cry Primal is an open world experience that takes place during the Stone Age, which means gamers will not have access to the firearms and vehicles that the series has long emphasized.

Main character Takkar will have to explore the valley of Oros, fend off very threatening fauna and deal with other human tribes as he seeks to ensure the survival of his group.

Far Cry Primal challenges gamers to make fires and hunt every day to stay alive and makes crafting very important, with a system that allows the protagonist to put together a wide range of short range weapons as well as bows.

Animals, including tigers and mammoths, can be tamed to give players more scouting options as well as extra power during combat.
