Ubisoft has just announced an important event for Far Cry fans. On May 28, the French publisher and developer will reveal gameplay footage of Far Cry 6, the next installment in its shooter series. Although it's been delayed a couple of times, the next game in the Far Cry franchise will be released this year, Ubisoft confirmed.

The Far Cry franchise has evolved to become an open-world first-person shooter, and the upcoming installment promises to plunge players into the heart of a modern-day guerrilla revolution set in Yara, a tropical paradise frozen in time under the oppressive rule of President Antón Castillo (played by Giancarlo Esposito).

As the president vows to restore his nation to its former glory while grooming his son Diego (played by Anthony Gonzalez) to follow in his footsteps, players will embody Dani Rojas, a local military dropout turned guerrilla fighter in their quest to overthrow the tyrant and unite the nation.

If you're curious about Ubisoft's upcoming open-world first-person shooter, then you should tune in to the worldwide gameplay reveal of Far Cry 6 on May 28 at 6:30 PM CEST on Ubisoft's Twitch and YouTube official channels.

Since Ubisoft has decided to show us Far Cry 6 gameplay footage in the first half of the year, it's no surprise that the game is still on track for a 2021 release. In fact, Ubisoft has just confirmed that Far Cry 6 is set to release later in 2021 on Xbox Series X/S, Xbox One, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, and PC exclusively on both the Epic Games Store and Ubisoft Store, as well as Google Stadia and Amazon Luna.

Naturally, the game developed by Ubisoft Toronto will also be available on Ubisoft+, Ubisoft’s subscription service, if you can't afford to purchase the game when it launches later this year.
