Bethesda has released the first Beta patch for Fallout 4, fixing a couple of quests and delivering a few performance fixes. It’s not a big patch and definitely not what people were waiting for, but at least they are working on it.

Fallout 4 is an open world game, and that means that there are a ton of problems, bugs, exploits, damaged quests, you name it. When a game of this caliber gets in the hands of millions of players, a lot of new issues are discovered, usually stuff that gets past the Beta. The community already uncovered a game breaking bug, and it’s likely that more will be found.

The Fallout 4 fans were waiting to see a huge patch, but they are going to be disappointed. It’s not a major patch, but at least it shows that they are working on improving the gameplay, even if it’s with small steps.

First Fallout 4 patch is here, but it’s a Beta version

The guys from CD Projekt RED, the developers of Witcher 3, showed the community just how you patch an open world game. The patches were monstrous, even if the Witcher 3 didn’t launch in a broken state.

According to the changelog, it’s not possible to remap the Numpad keys, Remapping Activate now works on Quick Container, some memory issues have been fixed, the game should be a little bit more stable, the When Freedom Calls quest has been fixed, the God Rays Quality setting is now saved properly, and a crash that occurred when jumping into water has been corrected as well.

This is a Beta patch, which means that users need to go into Steam, select settings for the game, select the Beta entry, and wait for the upgrade to download. This setting will also download future Beta upgrades, so if you don’t want them, just opt out of the Beta.
