14 DAY TRIAL // Facebook is readying its apps for the Holiday spirit and has announced that Messenger will receive some new features and customization options that are meant to “surprise and delight those you love.”
The most important addition to Facebook Messenger is called Photo Magic. The new feature has been tested in the last couple of weeks, and since developers have received overwhelmingly positive feedback, they have decided to release it to everyone.
According to Facebook, photo sharing in Messenger has been growing at a fast rate, with more than 9.5 billion photos sent each month.
Photo Magic is meant to improve the photo sharing experience, so with the latest version of Facebook, after you take a picture of your friends, you can send it to them right away.
The new feature recognizes your Facebook friends in the photos you take, and Messenger can create a group thread for you to share the photos with those people very easily.
The new Photo Magic feature can be turned off/on at any time. You can also check whether or not you are recognized in your friends' photos in the timeline and tagging section of the Facebook settings.
The snow globe effect for chat heads is back
The latest update for Messenger includes an entire set of customization options, which will make conversations funnier. Various color choices, emoji, nicknames have been added, so you can now have fun while texting your friends.
iOS users may want to tap on the people's names at the top of a conversation to change the family group thread to a festive red. Android users must tap the info button on the top right to do the same thing.
The snow globe effect makes a comeback for chat heads on Android. Also, for a limited time this season, your friends' chat head will appear as winter wonderlands while some will become confetti-filled.
These new features will be rolled out to both Android and iOS applications in Google Play Store and App Store, respectively, so expect them to arrive very soon.
