14 DAY TRIAL // Facebook Messenger appears to be down across the world, with users confirming on various social services they can’t connect and send and receive messages.
Needless to say, Facebook has remained completely tight-lipped on everything related to the outage, but given the number of complaints that are posted pretty much everywhere, there’s a good chance the social network is already investigating the whole thing.
At the time of writing, DownDetector indeed confirms there are problems hitting Facebook Messenger, and the outage map indicates the service is down in several large regions, including the United States and Europe.
Users have also confirmed connectivity problems in Switzerland, Argentina, New York, Serbia, Lithuania, Germany, Italy, France, Spain, the United Kingdom, and several other countries.
Since the service is currently down, users can no longer send and receive messages, with some people claiming the whole thing started some four years ago.
Outage hitting other Facebook services
By the looks of things, Facebook Messenger isn’t the only Facebook-owned service that’s currently down, with users also reporting connectivity problems for Instagram.
In this case, users can’t log in to their accounts, though at this point, the issue appears to be a lot more limited than the Facebook Messenger downtime.
On the other hand, the Facebook social network and WhatsApp are not affected by the outage and everything appears to be working correctly for everyone worldwide.
Facebook is yet to share any specifics on the outage, so nobody knows for sure when the messenger is supposed to go back online. Of course, nobody knows for sure what’s causing the whole thing, so everybody is now waiting for the social network to come up with more details on the issue and to provide users with an ETA as to when the Messenger could be up and running again.
