14 DAY TRIAL // Facebook is back with yet another mobile application, but this time the company seems to have skipped Android users. The new Notify application is available for iOS users only.
Notify is a news application that promises to deliver timely notifications “about the things that matter to you, from the source you love, all in one place.”
Notify will push notifications to your smartphone from the sources you like most and the categories you choose.
For example, you can get sports results from The Final Score station from FOX Sports, or weather forecast from The Daily AM Forecast station from The Weather Channel.
Also, Hot New Trailers from Fandango offers the newest trailers for the hottest movies as they get published.
If you are into everything related to news, then Breaking News from CNN and Top Stories from Fox News should provide you with the latest news headlines.
The application allows users to select their personal mix of notifications by selecting the stations from which they want to receive updates.
The news app is only available in the US
Sources like those mentioned earlier will provide you with notifications via these stations where there are relevant updates. Notify also offers station suggestions based on your Facebook profile.
All notifications are delivered directly to the lock screen, so a quick glance will allow you to remain connected to what interests you most.
Notify also allows users to share their favorite notifications with their friends via text, email, Facebook or other social networks, directly from the lock screen. You can even save a notification for later reading.
According to Facebook, Notify for iOS is available beginning today in the US only. There's no word on whether or not the application will be available in other countries anytime soon. However, there's a high chance that an Android version will be launched later on.
