“WhatsApp is far more private and secure,” Zuckerberg says

WhatsApp is currently the world’s number one mobile messaging service, but on the other hand, iMessage is the one that’s often praised for the privacy and security offered to users.

At least, that’s the opinion of the parent company Apple, which praises the privacy and security of its service on every single occasion.

But according to Facebook owner Mark Zuckerberg, between the two, WhatsApp is actually the service that offers more privacy and security to users out there.

In a post on the social network, Zuckerberg compared the two services, highlighting that WhatsApp offers end-to-end encryptions even in group chats.

“WhatsApp is far more private and secure than iMessage, with end-to-end encryption that works across both iPhones and Android, including group chats. With WhatsApp you can also set all new chats to disappear with the tap of a button. And last year we introduced end-to-end encrypted backups too. All of which iMessage still doesn't have,” Zuckerberg said in a Facebook post.

On the other hand, Apple praises the security and privacy of iMessage in a detailed tech document where the company explains what the service has to offer on this front.

“Users start a new iMessage conversation by entering an address or name. If they enter a phone number or email address, the device contacts the Apple Identity Service (IDS) to retrieve the public keys and APNs addresses for all the devices associated with the addressee. If the user enters a name, the device first uses the user’s Contacts app to gather the phone numbers and email addresses associated with that name and then gets the public keys and APNs addresses from IDS,” Apple says.
