The social media company blames a configuration change

As if the current WhatsApp scandal wasn’t enough, Facebook has recently introduced what the company calls a “configuration change” that eventually logged out all iPhone users from the app.

In other words, if you’re using Facebook on your iPhone and you suddenly had to log back into the app, you’re not alone. The company says it’s all because it has implemented a configuration change, but it did not elaborate on what exactly has been modified.

Oddly enough, users with two-factor authentication enabled for their accounts had a really hard time getting back into the app, as the verification codes did not arrive. On the other hand, what’s important to note is that iPhone users were mostly the ones affected by the blunder, so the configuration change that Facebook implemented might have been specifically aimed at the official app for Apple devices.

Facebook says access is restored, users claim it is not

In a post on Facebook, the company provided very little details about what was happening.

“We’re looking into reports of people being logged out and having to log in again to access their Facebook accounts. We’re working to resolve this issue as quickly as possible. Thank you for your patience,” Facebook said.

The company later posted an update, claiming the issue has been fixed, though several users claimed connecting to Facebook using the official iPhone app still wasn’t working. Some say they aren’t able to watch videos in the Facebook app, and others complained of authentication problems after this configuration change.

At the time of writing, everything is supposed to be working correctly, at least according to Facebook.

Logging into the app from an Android device or from a desktop computer is also working normally without any issue whatsoever.
