ExpressVPN is the most recent high-profile app that receives support for Apple Silicon, with the parent company announcing that the latest version should feel at home on M chip-powered devices.

Version 11.5.0 is the one that adds Apple Silicon support, and both M1 and M2 processors are fully supported.

In case you’re wondering why this is such an important update, ExpressVPN says the app should now work even more seamlessly, while also sporting a performance boost without an impact on the battery of the device.

“This is why we reworked our Mac app to have native Apple silicon support. ExpressVPN users with Apple silicon Macs can now enjoy the full effects of improvements to their computers’ reliability, performance, speed, and battery life—just by updating to the latest version of our Mac app,” the company explained in an announcement this week.

The update for Apple Silicon devices is already live

Needless to say, even if you don’t have a Mac computer powered by Apple Silicon, you should still enjoy the latest performance improvements and optimizations. This is because ExpressVPN updates the app using a universal binary, so the most recent improvements will also be available for Intel-powered Apple devices as well.

“If you are using an older, Intel-based Apple computer, our latest Mac app will continue to work just as well. The app is a universal binary that supports both architectures, and we encourage you to update to the latest version, too,” ExpressVPN explains.

The new ExpressVPN update with Apple Silicon is available right now, and of course, if you already have an Apple computer with an M processor, you should update the app as soon as possible to get all these latest improvements. The version you must be running is 11.5.0, and it is available right now through the usual download channels.
