Rare, the studio behind popular platformers like Donkey Kong and Banjo-Kazooie, as well as the adventure Sea of Thieves, has just announced a brand new game that has nothing to do with the other two genres specified – Everwild.

Everwild is Rare's new IP and judging from the trailer shown off at the X019 event, it will be a gorgeous-looking game. Unfortunately, nothing much was revealed about Everwild aside from the trailer.

The game is still early in development, although Rare was kind enough to provide its fans with a few tidbits to give them an idea of what's to come.

Everwild is designed to let players discover new ways to play in a natural and magical world. The team behind the game, which is led by Executive Producer Louise O’Connor, hopes to create something original and incredibly special that aims to be more than just a new IP.

Rare is focusing on building a game that, hopefully, will give players memorable, engaging and meaningful experiences that they will be able to share. The studio promised to offer more details about Everwild later on, so if the trailer got you hooked, you'll probably have to wait until next year to learn more about Rare's new IP.

Meanwhile, Rare continues to focus on Sea of Thieves with a brand new free monthly update, The Seabound Soul, which will arrive on November 20. The update brings an all-new, lore-focused Tall Tale mission that has Captain Pendragon in right and center.

Those who haven't yet played any of the Tall Tale missions delivered by Rare might want to know that these narrative-driven stories are the studio's take on a “campaign” but set within a rich shared world of Adventure. The upcoming update will also introduce firebombs, explosive ammo that can be thrown or loaded into cannons in both Adventure and in The Arena modes.
