Development of Everspace 2, the Eve Online wannabe that will enter Early Access later this yet, is going along quite nicely. New gameplay footage shown at Gamescom 2020 confirms the game has all kinds of activities that players can engage in during their playthroughs.

Although Everspace 2 developers said they would rather focus on the density of their world rather than the size, a semi open-world space shooter like this one might seem intimidating at first glance. However, veterans of the genre will most likely feel at home playing Everspace 2, especially that developers have introduced the so-called “cockpit view.”

As shown in the footage, the cockpit view features fully functional displays that enable players the option to play without HUD for maximum immersion. Moreover, ship type, upgrades, and color customization will affect the cockpit interior, allowing for a wide variety of interiors.

If you're ready to jump in the Early Access, you'll be pleased to know that when the game will be available it will allow players to access a new star system called Union, a trading hub where the interstellar game world opens up. This particular section of the game promises to offer player s a new look and feel, as well as more unique environments both in space and on planets.

On top of that, Early Access will reintroduce the Okkar, the predominant alien race of the original game. Also, it adds two new player ship classes, the cockpit view with fully functional displays, 5 to 10 hours of gameplay to the Closed Alpha's 10 hours of content, a higher level cap, and many UI/UX and quality-of-life improvements.

Everspace 2 closed beta is expected to kick off in September for eligible Kickstarter backers, but anyone can play the free demo that's listed on Steam right now.
