Good news for Android fans in India that can't afford to purchase a new device for more than $50, as native OEM Spice Mobiles has just announced the immediate availability of its cheap XLife 404 smartphone.

According to a new report, Spice XLife 404 might be the cheapest smartphone launched by the Indian company. The new smartphone is available for purchase in Wine Red, Champagne Gold and Ivory White for only Rs 3,190 outright, which is about $50 or €45.

That's quite a low price for an Android smartphone, though for that amount you won't get much. The XLife 404 is a pure entry-level smartphone, so it really isn't a good choice for those looking for an average-specced device.

First of all, the smartphone ships with Android 4.4 KitKat operating system right out of the box, which isn't really a downside considering the phone's price.

Obviously, you shouldn't expect any major OS updates to arrive on Spice XLife 404 since it doesn't even meet the minimum requirement.

With just 256MB RAM inside, it will sure not run all Android apps

The only thing that might appeal to consumers would be the fact that it features a decent design and that it comes with dual-SIM support.

Spice XLife 404 sports a 4-inch capacitive touchscreen display that supports 480 x 800 pixels resolution. On the inside, the smartphone packs a 1GHz single-core processor, which is complemented by only 256MB of RAM and 512MB of internal memory.

Luckily, the smartphone comes with microSD card slot for memory expansion (up to 32GB). On the back, Spice XLife 404 features a 3.2-megapixel photo snapper with LED flash and video recording, while in the front there's a secondary 1.3-megapixel camera for video calls.

Surprisingly, the smartphone offers 3G connectivity, along with other options like Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, FM Radio, 3.5mm audio jack and GPS with AGPS.

Last but not least, Spice XLife 404 is powered by a removable 1,450 mAh battery and measures 128.5 x 64.6 x 9.9mm.
