The game will actually launch in Early Access

Elite Dangerous: Horizons, the first expansion for Elite Dangerous, will be landing on the PC platform on December 15.

Elite Dangerous has been released for quite some time and there is a strong community already formed. This space sim allows players to travel across a real-size galaxy that has over 200 billion stars, and the latest expansion now offers players the ability to land on planets and explore them in great detail.

It's not like there wasn't enough to do in the original Elite Dangerous, but the new expansion will provide an enhanced gameplay, and the addition of planets and vehicles will contribute to an already massive game.

The problem of the game has been dealt with, sort of, although some users might still have a problem with it. There was quite a discussion when the pricing was first announced for Horizons, but that seems to have been settled and all is back to normal.

Elite Dangerous: Horizons is early access

Even if the developers have announced that Elite Dangerous: Horizons is coming this December, it doesn't mean that it's ready. It's going to be marked as Early Access while the team will continue to work on it.

"The first expansion, Planetary Landings introduces players to planet surfaces and the first all-new Surface Recon Vehicle (SRV) the ‘Scarab’. Scanning airless planets and moons brings new gameplay as players detect signals, crashed ships, mineral deposits, outposts and fortresses," the official website reads.

It's not clear for how long the game will remain in Early Access, but it's not likely that it's going to exit any time soon. From the looks of it, only the general features have been implemented, but more will come.

Horizons will allow cooperative modes for players who will be able to fulfil different roles aboard a single ship, larger spacecraft will be able to launch their own spaceships, not to mention new ships and loot.
