14 DAY TRIAL // There have been many rumors in the past concerning an Iron Man game in development at EA, but we never got confirmation until today. Unfortunately, today’s announcement is just that, a confirmation that EA’s Motive Studio, also responsible for Star Wars Battlefront II, Star Wars: Squadrons, and the upcoming Dead Space remaster, is working at an “all-new single-player, third-person, action-adventure” Iron Man game.
The game is developed in collaboration with Marvel Games and will feature a brand-new story that might become canon. The project is led by Olivier Proulx, who has previously worked on other Marvel titles, including Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy.
“We are thrilled to collaborate with the talented team at Motive Studio to bring their original vision of one of Marvel’s most important, powerful and beloved characters. Their experience delivering both established entertainment worlds and thrilling gameplay — combined with their authentic passion for the armored icon — will fuel our quest to deliver a love letter to a legendary hero in the form of the ultimate Iron Man video game,” said Bill Rosemann, Vice President and Creative Director at Marvel Games.
No trailers or screenshots have been shown from the game, and no release timeframe has been revealed yet. But EA announced the game is now in the pre-production phase and that we should expect more information as the Marvel title is being developed.
One other interesting fact revealed in the announcement is that the new collaboration between Marvel and Electronics Arts will include several new games, with Iron Man being the first. While we’re pretty excited about the newly announced Iron Man game, we can only hope the collaboration between EA and Marvel will be more fruitful than the former’s partnership with Disney.
Thankfully, after the Star Wars: Battlefront II fiasco, EA managed to score a win with Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order. Let’s hope this is not another Square Enix Marvel’s Avenger type of game.
