The well-known online auction site eBay is suspected by the FBI as being connected with a webpage belonging to a Norway Internet radio station which tricked visitors of an eBay page.

eBay representatives have discovered the method through which the Norway site tried to trick its users, and the FBI was notified about this attempt. The federal agents have analyzed the situation and then they have contacted the radio station and asked them to delete the account registered on lettnett.no.

None of the NordicRadio Internet operators (which was shutdown at the end of last week) or of the Internet provider used by this company are on the suspect list. However, Trond Didrichsen, one of the representatives of lettnett.no, said that one of NordicRadio's employees is still questioned by the FBI.

The fraud attempt consisted of copying several eBay pages and posting them on NordicRadio, hoping that the users of this site will reveal their personal data, such as credit card numbers. Trond Didrichsen said that this attempt might the creation of a hacker that has nothing to do with the radio's staff, and that for now, there haven't been any reports of credit card theft.

After the investigations are over, the radio station will be able to resume activity, and the site's managers hope they will be able to prove that this attempt was orchestrated by an outside hacker.
