Online auction and shopping website eBay has announced a huge update to its iOS application for iPad customers: “With this many new features, fixes, and user requests, it's hard not to be excited!,” eBay said. “With your feedback, we've made an app we know you'll love,” said the website.

Existing users should indeed be exhilarated, as the software has been redesigned for the new iPad’s Retina display, and updated with enhancements like improved search, the ability to revise listings, and a back button.

eBay iOS features a whole new design with a customizable home screen, ultra-high resolution item images, the ability to view search results in three ways, more eBay notifications, and more.

Users’ top feature requests have been added: “revise listings, back button, and improved search.”

eBay continues: “Designed from the ground up, our 2.0 app brings what you want right to the front. The first thing you’ll notice is a new ‘home’ screen.”

“At the top of the screen, we automatically include your eBay Buying, Watching, and Selling activity. Prefer something else on your home screen? Tap the ‘Edit’ button and move your home screen options around, add new options or delete.”

eBay concludes, saying “we were inspired by the many features and functions you asked for on http://getsatisfaction.com/eBayMobile,” in addition to giving the app a complete overhaul.

The eBay iPad app lets you customize your home screen with your favorite searches. You can keep track of what's popular and check out eBay's Daily Deals. Anything you consider worth sharing goes on Twitter, Facebook, email, and even via SMS.

eBay for iPad is compatible only with the Apple iPad (no support for iPhone and iPod touch) and requires iOS 4.0 or later.
