Buyers will be offered a 30-day ExpressVPN trial

All new and future Dynabook computers will come pre-loaded with ExpressVPN as part of a partnership between the two companies. The first model to feature such a VPN solution pre-installed is the Satellite Pro L50, which was announced last month.

However, Dynabook says the collaboration would be expanded to new devices soon, as it wants to provide customers with “crucial security and privacy protection right out of the box.”

But while ExpressVPN will indeed come pre-loaded on Dynabook computers, it doesn’t necessarily mean that customers will be able to use the VPN services indefinitely at no cost. In fact, what they get as part of the partnership is a 30-day trial of ExpressVPN, after which they need to pay for a license if they want to continue using this VPN provider.

Bloatware?

Dynabook says before making a decision on which VPN service to use, it conducted a “rigorous selection process,” with tests for security, reliability speed, ease of use, privacy policy, and backend architecture. ExpressVPN scored big in all tests.

“VPNs have become an indispensable tool for internet privacy and security, so we’re excited to bring a safer experience to our users right out of the box through this partnership,” said Damian Jaume, President Dynabook EMEA.

“We chose to partner with ExpressVPN because they are absolutely unparalleled in the industry when it comes to cutting-edge security, super fast connection speeds globally, and ease-of-use. They share our deep commitment to building a safe and open internet experience.”

While out of the box VPN protection is without a doubt welcome, there’s a chance that many users might see the limited trial of ExpressVPN as bloatware, especially because it can be used for only 30 days after which they are required to pay for a license. This is an approach that other PC makers used in the past for various apps, including security software like antivirus programs.

Whether or not customers will agree with this idea remains to be seen, but again, VPN protection that is offered from the very beginning is definitely good news.
