14 DAY TRIAL // Video game developer Techland is announcing that it plans to launch an expansion for Dying Light, called The Following, which will offer gamers a wide range of new areas to explore and some tweaks to the core game mechanics.
The new content will be driven by a new story centered on Kyle Craven as he explores a peril-filled outback area where fanatical cultists oppose him at all times as he seeks to find out how they are connected to the zombie outbreak of the core game.
Dirt buggies are being added to Dying Light, entirely customizable and upgradable, designed to allow gamers to cover the bigger distances of the expansion.
The vehicles in The Following will have their unique skill trees, allowing players to choose how he deals with the challenges that the cultists throw at him.
Tymon Smektała, a producer working on the expansion, states, "Gamescom 2015 was our first chance to let people play Dying Light: The Following so I was a bit nervous. But so many positive reactions really showed me we made the right decision to work on this expansion. With its new map and far-reaching gameplay additions, it feels like we’ve hit the sweet spot for what players are expecting from us."
The Following will offer a lot of content for Season Pass holders
The Techland team says that all those who have purchased a Season Pass for Dying Light will get the new content for free.
Other players can also get it for 14.99 dollars (prices for Europe will be confirmed at a later date).
Techland is not yet willing to say exactly when The Following for Dying Light will be launched.
The original game managed to impress a lot of gamers with the way it used movement, allowing players to chain parkour moves to build up momentum.
The developers also offered some interesting tactical puzzles and some cool differences in terms of gameplay between night and day.
The Following is a big expansion, the kind that modern video games rarely get, and Techland has a chance to polish the core ideas of Dying Light while also introducing new enemies and environments to the title.
