14 DAY TRIAL // Dungeon of the Endless is one of those “endless” roguelike games that put the story on the same level as gameplay. The game made its debut on PC to raving reviews six years ago, so it's quite impossible not to have heard about it.
An Xbox One version of Dungeon of the Endless was launched back in 2016, and earlier this week we've learned that developer Amplitude Studios will bring their game to PlayStation 4 and Nintendo Switch as well.
The developer announced the physical version of Dungeon of the Endless will be released this spring and it will cost £29.99 / €34.99 / $34.99 on Nintendo Switch and £24.99 / €29.99 / $29.99 on PlayStation 4.
It's also worth mentioning that the physical version of Dungeon of the Endless includes the base game plus several updates and DLC content including Deep Freeze, Death Gamble, Rescue Team and Organic Matters. The game box will also include an Escape Pod keyring and a 16-page sprite booklet.
Dungeon of the Endless is Amplitude Studios' third game of their loosely connected Endless series, which also includes Endless Space and Endless Legend.
In Dungeon of the Endless, players must guide a team of survivors of a prison spacecraft through several levels to achieve escape from a planet. All levels are procedurally generated and permadeath is included too, which means if one of your characters dies, it remains dead for the rest of the playthrough.
The game combines elements of roguelike, strategy, tower defense, and RPG, but the combat is turn-based. To survive, players must form a team of heroes, each with their own strengths and weaknesses, equip them, earn powerful abilities, manage the balance between ex-prison inmates and guards, as well as build their defenses.
The tower defense aspect lets players build minor and major modules to hold off waves of monsters, such as turrets. The main objective of the game is to carry a crystal through all the levels and reach the surface of the planet.
