Microsoft has proudly announced that another universal app has landed in the store, and it’s none other than the official Dropbox client for Windows 10.

Already available on Windows 8, the Dropbox app has been updated to benefit from all the improvements included in Windows 10, such as Windows Hello, live tiles, and notifications.

First and foremost, Dropbox is now a universal app, which means that it works on both PCs and smartphones powered by Windows 10. It features the same look and feel on all devices, and it’s obviously available free of charge for everyone.

One of the most important features in this new client is Windows Hello support, which allows you to secure your account with your face, fingerprint, or iris instead of the traditional password. Of course, your device needs to support Windows Hello, so if you install Dropbox on a Lumia 950 XL, for instance, you can also configure this feature.

Then, Dropbox comes with jump list support, so a single right-click on its taskbar icon allows you to access the most recent files in your account. Additionally, interactive device notifications let you know when someone invites you to access a shared folder, and you can even accept or reject the invite straight from the notifications (these interactive notifications are really awesome and should be part of more apps as soon as possible!).

Drag and drop support is also offered for this client, so you can easily upload files from File Explorer. Just drag them into the Dropbox window and they are uploaded automatically.

Although it’s a universal app, only Windows 10 PC users can download it right now, but Microsoft promises that mobile devices will get it very soon. Also, some Windows 10 users might not see it just yet in the store, but Redmond says that it should show up sometime this week. Of course, PC users can install the desktop version of Dropbox too, but with all the aforementioned improvements, the universal app is far more exciting.
