Last week, Ice Cube “casually” let it slip during a radio interview that Dr. Dre was coming out with a new album on August 1. That didn’t turn out to be the case, but something amazing did happen on that date: Dre confirmed the album and announced the release date for August 7.

Indeed, Dre has been teasing fans with the “Detox” album for years, but while they might never get it, they will get the next best thing: a new Dre album, inspired by the OST for the unofficial NWA biopic “Straight Outta Compton.”

Dre confirmed the album on his Beats 1 radio show The Pharmacy: it will be called “Compton: A Soundtrack by Dr. Dre” and will feature appearances by Kendrick Lamar, Eminem, Snoop Dogg, Ice Cube, and Xzibit.

You can see the complete tracklisting below.

As for the “Detox” album, if you’re still waiting for it to come out, now’s a good time to forget about it: on the same podcast, Dre said that he scrapped it because he didn’t like how it was turning out. Of course, that doesn’t mean that he might not reuse some of the material he recorded for it later down the line, but “Detox” is just not happening.
