In addition to the many cumulative updates for Windows 10 released a few hours ago, Microsoft has also published the typical monthly rollups for Windows 7 and 8.1, and you can download them using the links at the bottom of the page.

But before actually proceeding to downloading, let’s see what each OS version gets with the release of these new updates.

First and foremost, KB4074598 and KB4074587 (security-only) are available for Windows 7 Service Pack 1 and Windows Server 2008 R2 Service Pack 1.

As you could easily guess since the rollout took place on Patch Tuesday, the focus was mostly on fixing security issues, so there are updates for Internet Explorer, Windows Graphics, Windows Kernel, the Windows Search component, and the Windows storage and file systems.

Additionally, KB4074598 also includes fixes for bugs impacting editing input fields in Internet Explorer, issues causing the browser to crash or hitting errors when launching new pages.

Windows 8.1 updates

Second of all, Windows 8.1 and Windows Server 2012 R2 Standard are provided with KB4074594 and KB4074597 (security-only).

In this case, the change log includes not only the refinements mentioned above, but also fixes for problems that were previously introduced by updates KB4056895 or KB4056898 on an SMB server. The security-only update comes with patches for Windows components exclusively.

All Windows 7 and 8.1 monthly rollups come with the same known issue that prevents systems running incompatible antivirus software from receiving the patches.

The monthly rollups are pretty much the Windows 7 and 8.1 version of cumulative updates, and include all the previously-released fixes. As their name suggests, they land once per month, typically on Patch Tuesday and include both security and non-security improvements, similar to the Windows 10 cumulative updates that are released the same day.

Below you can find the download links for each update, and keep in mind that rebooting the system is required in all cases.
