Microsoft finally releases new ISOs for Windows 10 preview

Microsoft released Windows 10 build 14295 for PC to users enrolled in the slow ring of the Windows Insider program earlier this week, so the software giant is now offering new ISOs as well for those who want to perform a clean install.

Usually, Microsoft provides insiders with new ISOs whenever a new build lands in the slow ring, so it’s very clear that 14295 performs well enough to be shipped to more users.

The new ISOs are available right from Microsoft’s page, but what you need to have in mind when planning a clean install is that activation won’t be possible unless you previously activated Windows 10 on your PC or you have a product key for the new OS.

Always create a backup

Furthermore, if you update to this build, going back to your previous OS install, especially when coming from Windows 7 and 8.1, won’t be possible without a new install. This means that creating a backup is quite critical if you don’t want to lose any data.

“If you want to stop using Windows 10 Insider Preview and return to your previous version of Windows, you'll need to reinstall your previous version from the recovery or installation media that came with your PC - typically a DVD. If you don't have recovery media, you might be able to create recovery media from a recovery partition on your PC using software provided by your PC manufacturer. You'll need to do this before you upgrade,” Microsoft explains.

Build 14295 is all about fixing bugs and improving performance, so you won’t find any new breaking features in this update. It does bring extension support for Microsoft Edge browser, though, as this feature was introduced by the previous build.

This build is part of the Redstone update, officially called Anniversary Update, coming in the summer, so if you want to get a glimpse into what the upcoming release is going to look like, download it and give it a shot. You can safely try it in a virtual machine without losing any data.
