Rocket League, the massively popular multiplayer racing / soccer hybrid, has just received a brand new update, in the form of patch 1.05. According to the changelog, all sorts of different improvements and new things are included, chief among which being the start of the first ranked season.

Rocket League launched a few months ago across PC and PS4 and quickly won over millions of fans thanks to its intense multiplayer action, not to mention the fact that it was offered for free to all PS4 owners with active PS Plus subscriptions.

Since then, more and more people have joined the online action, while developer Psyonix has released various free and premium content for everyone to enjoy.

Update 1.05 is live and brings quite a few new things

Now, the independent studio has just released a brand new update for Rocket League, in the form of patch 1.05, which adds a suite of bug fixes, improvements, and other additional content to the game.

Chief among the freshly added goodies is the start of the first ranked season. There are now multiple ranked divisions, from unranked to gold and platinum, and each promotion offers different rewards to players who prove their skills. This first season is set to last for several months, so you'd better jump into the action soon enough.

New antennas are also included for various community groups or countries, not to mention improvements to the matchmaking, as PC users can now filter PS4 players out of their searches. A music player has also been added to all menu screens and the Spectate mode now boasts persistent nameplate display and the ability to focus on the ball while in Flycam.

Last but not least, a suite of modifications have been made to the Utopia Coliseum arena, not to mention to some other mechanics in order to eliminate crashes, issues, and other bugs.
