14 DAY TRIAL // Dota 2 is set to receive its long-awaited Reborn update in the following days. The major overhaul shifts the game's engine to Source 2, as seen in the ongoing beta stage that's been around for the last few months. At the same time, a new Dota Levels system is in place, alongside rewards for regular players and those who got The International 2015 compendium.
Dota 2 has been around for quite a few years now, and developer Valve has kept it up to date with new heroes, mechanics, features, and much more. However, the biggest overhaul is the upgrade of its engine to Source 2.
A Dota 2 Reborn beta has already been underway, offering fans a chance to try out Dota 2 in the new engine, alongside a new interface and other mechanics, like custom games.
Dota 2 gets the final Reborn update this week
After spending a few months in beta, the Reborn version of Dota 2 is set to become the full-fledged edition of the popular multiplayer experience. According to the official blog, the Reborn update is going to roll out in the next couple of days.
The big patch is set to weigh in at quite a few gigabytes, so Valve reminds fans that they can preload it through the Steam service.
A new levels system and fresh rewards are available
At the same time, the studio also confirms that there's a brand new Dota Levels mechanic available, which awards players with a badge, symbolized by different items in the actual game. You can improve your levels by earning trophies and playing matches.
Besides existing trophies that have been awarded to fans over the years, there's a new Experience one that takes into account matches complete, as well as a Battle Veteran one that symbolizes the Battle Points earned by fans in the previous version of the game.
Those who bought and sufficiently leveled up their The International 2015 compendiums have also received the three new weather effects, in the form of Harvest, Pestilence, and Sirocco. Valve confirms that it's still working on the other stretch goals, like the Axe Comic and Immortal item, or the Desert Terrain.
