Romanian studio KillHouse Games is bringing its critically-acclaimed action side-scroller Door Kickers: Action Squad to consoles. After being launched on PC last year, the game is now scheduled for release on Xbox One and PlayStation 4 October 24. A Nintendo Switch version will be available shortly after, on October 28.

For those who've never been exposed to the game, Door Kickers: Action Squad is an old-school side-scroller with strategy and tactics elements on top of the ridiculous SWAT-style action. The core of the gameplay lets you kick the doors down, blast the bad guys and rescue hostages.

Door Kickers: Action Squad features both single-player and coop multiplayer modes, with Couch play, included. Just like the PC version, the game will bring the full experience to consoles while also adding one new chapter with 12 new levels (The Slums) and a fun new playable character (the Off-Duty Guy).

Those who already have the game on PC and don't want to buy it again on the console just for the extra content should be happy to know that the new chapter and character will be available on PC as well as a free-for-all-players upgrade.

In Door Kickers: Action Squad, players can choose their gear and then adapt and react to whatever the game throws at them the moment they kick the doors down. Don't worry about failing since you'll be able to restart without being punished and rethink your strategy.

You'll have to consider every piece of gear that you have on your, including weapons recoil and reload times, but you'll also have to use distance and cover to your advantage, as well as the in-game strategic abilities to overcome all the challenges.

As you can see from the trailer above, Door Kickers: Action Squad features high detail retro graphics. It has 60 non-linear levels, more than 40 weapons and gear items, 20+ enemy types and 4 mission objectives, as well as 5 playable characters, each with unique gameplay and level up options. The PC game costs $12/€12, so that's probably going to be the price for the console version.
