Single-player quality-of-life improvements will be added too

DOOM Eternal, one of the best first-person shooters of all time, is getting its first major update since launch. The update that's now available on PC and consoles brings important Battlemode improvements, enhanced demons, as well as many single-player quality-of-life changes.

But first, let's talk a bit about the new Battlemode improvements, which might not be on everyone's liking. Of course, all new features and enhancements have been designed to improve the overall experience in Battlemode.

For example, the tutorial walkthrough has been further improved, while poor network connection indicators are now visible in Battlemode. Also, developer id Software has added Echelon Leveling for players at maximum level and a Death Report screen to offer players more combat info during matches.

Those who play DOOM Eternal on consoles will be pleased to know that exclusive adjustments and other balance changes have been implemented to ensure the experience is suitable on individual platforms. Console players will also get free additions of new playable demons and maps in Battlemode later this year.

Empowered Demons is one of the changes that some players have found unnecessary. Here is how it works: when a player is killed in the single-player campaign, the demon that felled them is beefed up and transported to another player's game to fight again. When an Empowered Demon is downed, players will not only receive tons of health and ammo but also bonus XP to progress in-game events.

Last but not least, based on community feedback, id Software has added some balance adjustments, such as expanded demon tutorials, Dashing vertically in the water, and lower toxic damage while swimming.

These are just some of the most important changes included in Update 1, but for more details don't forget to check out the full changelog. Stick around for more information about DOOM Eternal's upcoming Invasion mode and the first DLC expansion yet to come.
