The critically-acclaimed DOOM Eternal is getting a two-part story expansion and the first episode is scheduled to arrive in October. DOOM Eternal: The Ancient Gods, Part One releases on October 20 and it will be available on PC and consoles on the same day.

It's important to add that players who already own the DOOM Eternal Year One Pass or the Deluxe edition of DOOM Eternal will receive The Ancient Gods, Part One for free. However, those who don't own either of the two will have to purchase the expansion separately, which will also include free access to BATTLEMODE.

The good news is that players do not need to own DOOM Eternal to purchase and play The Ancient Gods, Part One, which means this will be a self-contained expansion. The Year One Pass can be had for $30 and, as mentioned earlier, it includes access to both DLC 1 and 2. Those who just want to play The Ancient Gods, Part One will be able to buy it for $20.

And in case you're wondering, the fine folks at id Software and Bethesda have already confirmed that DOOM Eternal is coming to Xbox Series X and PlayStation 5 as a free upgrade for current-generation owners when those versions are available.

As far as the upcoming expansion goes, an exhilarating gameplay trailer has been revealed last week at Gamescom 2020 where we're offered a good look at the new enemies and weapons included.

In DOOM Eternal: The Ancient Gods, Part One, players will face an ancient evil awoken from an imbalance in the heavens. The first episode of the two-part story is getting takes players to never-before-seen locations in the DOOM universe, where they will battle fierce new demons and discover a new chapter in the DOOM Slayer’s story.
