Hot on the heels of DOOM and DOOM II major update announcement, Bethesda released the second trailer for id Software's upcoming DOOM Eternal game. Still expected to release on March 3, 2020, the next installment in the DOOM series features an intriguing story, but the same exhilarating gameplay that we know and love.

In DOOM Eternal, the armies of hell have invaded Earth, so the Slayer is the only hope for humanity. The trailer tells a little bit about the campaign story but also shows off even more gameplay. Apart from the weapons from the previous game such as the Combat Shotgun, Super Shotgun, Heavy Cannon, Rocket Launcher, Plasma Rifle, BFG 9000, and Ballista, the Slayer is now getting new melee weapons like a chainsaw, the Crucible Blade energy sword, and a retractable arm-blade.

The “glory kills” executions are making a comeback in DOOM Eternal, but some weapons like the Super Shotgun have been modified with new add-ons like the “Meat Hook,” which can be used as a grappling hook for both weapons and environmental navigation.

We also know that DOOM Eternal will feature twice as many demon types as the 2016 DOOM reboot, as well as a new system called “Destructible Demons” where enemies' bodies deteriorate as they receive damage.

More importantly, DOOM Eternal includes a new lives system that allows players to collect 1-up items throughout the environment so that when they are killed in combat they will respawn where they died, instead of restarting at the nearest checkpoint.

DOOM Eternal is coming to PC, PlayStation 4, Xbox One and Stadia on March 20, but those who pre-order the game will receive a free digital download of DOOM 64. Also, pre-orders of DOOM Eternal will include the Rip and Tear Pack, which comes with DOOT Revenant skin, Cultist Base Master Level, and Throwback Shotgun weapon skin.
