14 DAY TRIAL // Donnie Wahlberg and Jenny McCarthy dated for about a year before they tied the knot in a fancy ceremony they turned into reality TV material for their joint A&E series, Donnie Loves Jenny. Now, one year later, their marriage is already “doomed,” Star magazine claims in its latest issue.
Whatever little “quirks” attracted Donnie to Jenny at first have now become major gripes for him, but nothing bothers him as much as the fact that she simply refuses to act her age, it is said.
Jenny is too immature, “driving him out the door”
According to the report, which cites the usual “unnamed insiders,” when they were dating, Jenny let Donnie understand that she’d be willing to trade her career for the life of a stay-at-home wife and mother.
She even hinted as much, saying in one interview that she’d grown tired of being so independent and that she was looking forward to being just “Mrs. Wahlberg.”
That turned out to be just empty talk, the report says. In almost no time, as she landed a new talk show on the radio and their reality show kicked off, Jenny reveled in the boost of attention and found herself doing whatever she could to court even more.
That included dyeing her hair bright pink and getting more tattoos, and Donnie found it terribly irritating. It was as if she was refusing to act her age, on top of the fact that she wasn’t at home too much.
“Their marriage is doomed,” a source close to the couple says. “It’s just a matter of time before they split. Donnie expects Jenny to behave like a wife, cooking and taking care of the family instead of relying on outside help. But she resists his alpha male act. She’s in danger of driving him out the door.”
They don’t work as a family either
As if this weren’t enough trouble to handle, the report says that Jenny is also making their life as a family impossible, in the sense of not working towards actually being one.
The former glamor girl has one son from a previous relationship, while Donnie has 2 sons, but even after one year of married life, they don’t work as a family. Jenny will simply not “let” Donnie be a “proper father figure,” the report says.
“She won’t let him be a strong father figure,” says the insider. At this point, the insider says, their reality show may be the only thing holding them together, predicting: “Once it’s over, their relationship could be too.”
