14 DAY TRIAL // DisplayLink has recently updated their DisplayLink USB 3.0 driver for the latest Ubuntu Linux operating system launched by Canonical in the last week of April 2016, Ubuntu 16.04 LTS.
The latest version of the DisplayLink USB Graphics Software, build 1.1.62, is available now for all supported Ubuntu Linux operating system, including Ubuntu 14.04 LTS (Trusty Tahr), Ubuntu 15.10 (Wily Werewolf), and Ubuntu 16.04 LTS (Xenial Xerus).
The driver allows Ubuntu Linux users, as well as users of other Ubuntu-based operating systems to use their USB and wireless monitors, video adapters, docking stations, and any other device that offers support for the DisplayLink technology.
DisplayLink USB Graphics Software for Ubuntu Linux 1.1.62 driver comes five months after the release of the previous version, build 1.0.335, announced in mid-December 2015, to bring support for the Ubuntu 16.04 LTS release, which you can download here.
DisplayLink USB 3.0 driver also available for Fedora Linux
While DisplayLinux doesn't yet provide packages of their DisplayLink USB 3.0 driver for other GNU/Linux operating systems, they offer an open-source kernel mode driver (EVDI), along with the libevdi library to help OS maintainers repackage the drive for their distribution, a process that has been detailed in this article.
As such, GNOME and Red Hat developer Bastien Nocera writes on his latest blog post about the availability of source RPM packages of the DisplayLink USB 3.0 driver for the Fedora Linux operating system, which he successfully tested on his 23-inch Dell S2340T multi-touch monitor, looking for a maintainer for them.
