14 DAY TRIAL // It's not just movies that Disney plans to remaster, but games as well. In a surprising move, the giant announced that two classic games – Aladdin and The Lion King will return to PC and consoles this fall.
The games will be remastered and will include new features and enhancements, but they'll be released both digitally and physically. The remastered versions of Aladdin and The Lion King will release for PC, PlayStation 4, Xbox One and Nintendo Switch on October 29. They will be bundled together and sell for $30 through retailers like GameStop, Amazon, Best Buy, Target, and Walmart.
Both games will feature upscaled graphics to support high definition displays and additional upgrades to enhance playability on current consoles. Also, the collection will include a brand new “final cut” of Aladdin and an original Aladdin “tradeshow demo” that hasn't been publicly available since 1993.
But these aren't the only improvements that players who buy the games will get. Customizable controls, special filters for visual enhancement will be available as well, along with multiple playable platform versions for game including their Sega Genesis, Game Boy and Super Game Boy releases (The Lion King Super Nintendo version too).
The Rewind feature and cheat codes to aid gameplay progression are available for those who want an easier time in the games. The Rewind button players can jump back up to 15 seconds, while cheat codes let them select what level they want to play, but they also give them invulnerability and infinite lives.
Last but not least, a lot of behind-the-scenes development assets including interviews, an art gallery, and a music player will be included in the classic games collection.
The Classic Games Collection: Aladdin and The Lion King has been updated by publisher Nighthawk Interactive and developer Digital Eclipse, a company that built its success by making commercial emulations of arcade games for Game Boy Color.
