Spot on the orb looks like the Disney pooch

Just yesterday, July 14, NASA's New Horizons probe, launched in January 2006, reached dwarf planet Pluto at the farther end of our Solar System and flew by it.

During this historic flyby, the spacecraft stopped communicating with base and instead focused solely on collecting data and snapping images of its target orb's surface.

Just before making its closest approach to Pluto, however, the adventurous New Horizons took the time to beam back a gorgeously detailed view of the dwarf planet.

The image in question, available next to this article, was obtained on July 13 from a distance of about 476,000 miles (768,000 kilometers), mission scientists over at NASA explain.

Now, it's easy to notice that, at least in this view, Pluto appears to sport a bright heart-shaped feature just below its equator. Or so NASA would have us believe.

Regular folks, however, think Pluto's supposed bright heart is actually a portrait of beloved Disney pooch Pluto. They've even made a video to prove it, which you can find below.

Admittedly, it takes a neurons-tearing stretch of the imagination to see Pluto the dog on Pluto the dwarf planet, but once you figure things out, the sight will definitely stay will you forever.

“Oh, boy! There's no pup more stellar than Pluto,” Disney fans and space enthusiasts agree.
