Gamers will see big differences between Emily and Corvo

The development team at Arkane Studios working on Dishonored 2 says that it is approaching development of the title by taking all the core elements of the first title in the series and adding depth in order to give gamers even more choices than before.

Harvey Smith, the leader of the studio, is quoted by VG247 as saying that his company needed a lot of time to determine which were the core elements of the first installment because they wanted to add too many revolutionary features.

For the sequel, it was easier to take the core idea of an assassin who can get through the story without killing anyone and add more depth and more options.

Smith states, "We thought our sword fighting could have been a little deeper, our stealth could have been more reliable with better feedback, and our UI was slapped together at the last minute. Just at every level there was something to deepen or extend or think about longer."

The improved core mechanics will certainly appeal to gamers who have played the original, but Dishonored 2 is also adding a new character and the director believes Emily will feel entirely new to fans because she requires a different approach when compared to Corvo.

The Empire is again in peril

The action of Dishonored 2 is set 15 years after the original, with a new otherworldly threat deposing Empress Emily Kaldwin and destabilizing the entire realm.

She chooses to become an assassin in order to reclaim her position and has access to an entirely new set of powers, which are focused more on stealth movement and silent kills.

Meanwhile, Corvo is older and more efficient when it comes to killing, although he seems to have lost some of his grace.

Gamers will be able to get through the same missions with either of the two characters, and the development team has suggested that a third path will also be available, although no details about it have been offered yet.

The difficulty level will also be increased, encouraging players to try out new ways of tackling each challenge.

Dishonored 2 will be out at some point in 2016 for the PC, the Xbox One from Microsoft, and the PlayStation 4.
